Hi,
Generally HR asks this queston in interview that, which is your dream company? If answered any other company then another question is asked- Why you are not going for that (dream)  company?

How to handle this question?

Thanks

Hi Ashwin,

In case you come across such a question in the interview, you should not mention any specific company name as it will not leave a good impact on the interviewer.
Instead of that you should tell him that any company/ organisation that offers knowledge and Professional growth while being resourceful, innovative and flexible and to which I can contribute my growth and talent is my Dream Company.

This will help you to impress the HR person smile

HTH,
Shruti.

Hi Shruti,

Thanks for reply.

I want to mention a dream company and then handle next question ( Why you are not going for that company) in an effective manner.

Please suggest me some way to answer this.

looking for quick response.

Thanks

Hi Ashwin,

I think you should not mention the name of the other third company while giving an interview.
Your answer to such question that you mentioned earlier should be diplomatic enough that it should not take you in trouble.
Praising a third company in front of the other company you are undergoing interview is not a good sense as they might not recruit you.

My last answer was a diplomatic one that doesn't hurt emotions of any company and off course saves you from problematic situations.

Thanks,
Shruti.

Ashwin,

Shruti is right. There is a reason for you to define 'A Company' as you dream company. Maybe the notion of your dream company is one which values employees, provides good career growth and compensates well.
It is diplomatic to state the reasons of your dream company rather than an explicit company name. Everyone has self respect for the place they work. Why would someone be interested in hiring you if their company is not your dream company, but you are interviewing just because you are not able to get a job in your dream company?

Rash and Shruti,

I do agree that name of any company should not be told and saying about qualities or reasons of dream company is a good way to answer , but practically sometimes HR do insists on telling name of a company . And if you are going for interview in a very small firm and HR insists to tell name then you cant tell name of that company because may be you have listened name of that company for first time when you got call.

In this situation what to do?

Ashwin,
Any sensible HR will not force you tell the name of the company if you tell him the qualities and reason of a Dream Company diplomatically.
You just have to impress him with your answer without hurting his (& his company's) self resept.
