I'm thinking that when you click on a button in the editor a dialog box appears which could be a gadget container - similar to the Share dialog.

Is this possible? Is there any documentation?

Now, I access application on server A, but I get error saying access denied from some javaScript files function.

Seems like some cross domain issue, any help is welcomed.

I found out that opensocial API we were using in Calendar Sidebar Gadget stopped working. It was still working correctly on Friday. We were using opensocial to store and get some key-value data, and today we are getting error code: badRequest (with no error message) everytime we are trying to read anything.

This an example of the code we are using:

I've been asked to look into Apache Rave with a view to creating a portal that displays our own widgets and some free social widgets (news and suchlike).

I installed JDK 1.6 and downloaded the Rave 0.1.8 binary zip file from http://rave.apache.org/downloads.html and have been having trouble getting it to work on Windows 7.

I can login to the portal (on localhost:8080), but the open social gadgets don't display in either IE8 or Firefox 10 and am getting 504 connection refused for all. Do I need to configure a proxy somewhere? (I'm on a company network that connects to the internet via a proxy.).

I'm finding it's very slow to execute requests.

Additionally, in IE8 when I try to rename the "Main" tab and/or change its layout I get a javascript error(Object expected ifr) something to do with the youtube widget. I removed the youtube widget but am still getting the error. Renaming and changing the layout works in Firefox.

Finally, I'm new to this and confused about all the architecture. I know tomcat is the web server, but I have no idea what Rave and Shindig and Spring are, nor Maven, nor whether I even need Maven (I installed it because the Rave documentation said to, but I think the demo is self contained). I'm having trouble finding any resources that clearly explain everything, the Apache documentation is contradictory in places and doesn't seem to be aimed at beginners. Any help appreciated.

iGoogle's standard RSS feed gadget is not OpenSocial, so it can't be embedded in other web sites. So I am hoping there is an alternative solution already available somewhere.

In iGoogle's gadget list there are other RSS gadgets, but none of them seem as nice as the default one by Google which is native to iGoogle.

The main difference between the standard gadget and most others is the ability to expand a headline and see more of the article by clicking the arrow next to the story. Also a clean layout.

It must be a widget/gadget that is OpenSocial compatible.

(I am aware that iGoogle will be closing, that is not relevant to my needs.)

1. In the admin interface (provided by the widget object's form() method), it displays a list of the posts in the blog for the blog owner to select from, saving this as a widget setting.
2. In the widget display (provided by the widget object's widget() method), it displays some content linked to the post that was selected.

This seems to be bizarrely difficult behavior to replicate in a Google Gadget. The questions I wind up having are:

1. As far as I can tell, Blogger barely has a concept of an admin interface, and certainly none that would manage widgets. It seems like I need to deploy admin and user functionality through the same gadget display; am I correct about this?
2. I can get at a list of blog posts easily enough, but how in the world do I create a setting that's global to the widget instance instead of specific to the user viewing it? I get the vague impression that that may be possible through OpenSocial in some way, but damned if I can figure out how.

• Easy to implement / maintain.
• Easy to use a simple if statement to test if the user is logged in
• User stays logged in from page to page and framework handles all that
• Has social login abilities for at least Facebook, but also Twitter, Wordpress, etc.
• Easy to integrate with MySQL and I can add extra "profile" fields without having to deal with framework.

Pluses - Has social login for tumblr? - Easy share buttons, etc.

I've already discovered Gigya, LoginRadius, OneAll, and Janrain. The problem is that they have terrible documentation and I'm really not sure if I'm supposed to integrate them into my own authentication/sessions system or if it's supposed to take care of that for me.

i run a social networking site written in asp.net and would like to open it to developers using the OpenSocial APIs. I have read information on opensocial.org as well as google's opensocial page and have a basic idea what it takes but still there is a lot of info missing to even get started.

I know i gotta provide RESTful API as well as JavaScript API, authenticating using OAuth methods. Does my container has to provide all 3: JSON, XML, and AtomPub representations of data?

I found Shindig but it runs under Apache, i need something for IIS. Are there any libraries that i could use as a base for my APIs to save time? Is it even recommended to write the entire container from scratch?

So for instance:

Now I could do this using RegEx. But the tricky part is keeping it general enough to handle any address in the world!

I'm sure there has to be something out there that can do it.
