Currently, when the user create a transaction, the web application is saved the transaction to database. Another window application is running all the time to get the transaction from database and post to SAP after that wait for the message from SAP and update back to database.

So the user always need to refresh from the web application to get the message from database.

I would like to replace window application with WCF. Should I use WCF Queued Messaging?

What is the best architecture to enhance?

I know very little about SAP and I have been asked to extract some data from it using ERPConnect (and if required LINQ to SAP)

I can see that it is possible to create BAPIs and Queries in SAP but these need to be pre-defined within SAP and then ERPConnect can be used to get data via those BAPIs and Queries.

Is it possible to use ERPConnect to create a query for me, instead of the Queries needing to exist in SAP? i.e. Join and filter several Tables and return the results?

I am also opposed to extracting data for 3 very large tables and then working out the joins and filtering it afterwards, my intention is to generate the query first and then only get what I need.

Is the SAP Enterprise Services Explorer for .net Free or not ? Can you show me the proof? If it is not free then how much does it cost ?

I am trying to run a query in SQL Server where the columns I select are different than how it is grouped. This query is used in SAP.

The problem, is that if I group by all the same columns that are selected, nothing is grouped.

Here is my query (which will obviously not work).

But I have no idea how i configure the endpoint in the WSO2ESB. Until now I configure a proxyservie. There I generate a soap message which send over a adress endpoint to the webservice from SAP.

We encountered an annoying heisenbug: A few users (not all) of an ABAP program complain about a problem we are unable to reproduce (the search help for contract accounts in transaction FKKORD1 wouldn't appear for them. The transaction was heavily customized by external contractors).

To find a solution for the problem we temporarily gave the users a permission role to allow debugging in the production system so we could debug the problem under their user account when it occured. But the moment we gave them the role, the problem stopped occuring. When we removed the role, the problem occured again.

Question: What reason could there be that an ABAP program behaves differently when executed by someone with debugging rights?

The role we added contains only one permission:

Object S_DEVELOP
    ACTVT = 03
    DEVCLASS = *
    OBJNAME = *
    OBJTYPE = DEBUG
    P_GROUP = *

We did a permission trace with transaction ST01 and didn't even found a check for that permission when the problem did or didn't occur.

Permanently giving debugging rights to normal users is not an option, because the compliance standards our organization has to follow don't allow that.

I've put these FuBa's inside a ZQM06 Function group (which was created by another developer).

I want to use Transaction SCC1 to move my developments from one client to another.

In transaction SE01 Transport Oganizer, I don't find the names of my 2 function modules anywhere.

How can I find out the change request with my work?

SELECT-OPTIONS: s_key  FOR somlreci1-receiver NO INTERVALS VISIBLE LENGTH 100. 

somlreci1-receiver is char(1215). But I can not write more than 45 into that select-option.

As Horst Keller mentioned in his ABAP and JSON post, "with Releases 7.02 and 7.03/7.31 (Kernelpatch 116) JSON is supported natively in ABAP".

Appartently 7.02 in my case of too generic because the line below:

writer = cl_sxml_string_writer=>create( type = if_sxml=>co_xt_json ).

returns the error: "The field CO_XT_JSON is unknown, but there is a field with the similar name CO_XT_XOP".

So is there any way to easily generate JSON?

I'm currently doing web application development in PHP. Management has told us we're standardizing on "J2EE" (and yes, I keep reminding them it's now called "Java EE"). I think the rational behind this mandate is something like "we run our business on SAP. SAP has netweaver. We should use Java so everything is integrated".

The majority of what I do now, and what management wants us to continue doing is rapid web development. My experience with sap so far (bobj, BW, data services) has not been positive. Insider knowledge is hard to come by. Upgrades are expensive and take forever. Every little change requires involvement from 15 different departments. My gut tells me Netweaver will be overkill for most of our projects.

Is netweaver going to slow us down?

I'd like our custom web development to remain independent of our SAP environment. From what I've read, there are plenty of open source Java MVC frameworks. I envision our own test/production servers running open source application servers with our choice of db backend (we have DB2, MYSQL and SQL Server running available in house). Each developer would use local vms as their sandbox\dev environment. Interaction with SAP would be done using web services or the SAP java library.

What will we loose by not deploying our web apps on Netweaver?

Above all I want to make sure our team stays nimble, both in speed of development and in keeping up with current technology. PHP has met those needs so far. I don't want to backtrack 5 technology years just so we can "integrate" with SAP.

I'm new to using screen painter and I am trying to make a payroll add -on for SAP B1. The payroll application I have right now, I made in C# .NET. The forms are winforms and I want to make them again with screen painter using SAP B1 8.81 PL 4.

On the toolbox for screen painter, I do not see any datetimepicker that I can drag onto the form unlike in Visual Studio.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how SAP B1 (SAP Business One) generates the unique primary keys it uses in various tables. Examples of what I am talking about would include OCRD.DocEntry and OCPR.CntctCode. These are integer columns that get "automatically" incremented.

Typical approaches for doing this include identity columns (e.g., SQL Server), sequences (e.g., Oracle), or manual sequence tables holding a Nextval which is programmatically incremented. As best I can tell, B1 is not using any of these techniques for these columns. So how is it handling them?

The particular instance I'm looking at is using a SQL Server Database.

Yes, I'm well aware of the fact that there is no "need" for me to know know about the inner workings, shouldn't be mucking around in the DB, etc. It's just bothering me that I don't know how they are doing it! If anyone can explain, I'd be grateful.
