The docs suggest to let the Activities extend BaseGameActivity. But as I switch the Activity while players are already connected, don'I need to place the connectivity parts in a Service which my Activity then binds to?

I have implemented Admob ads in a project of mine. I'm using the latest version of Eclipse; Juno Service Release 1, with the latest updates. When I updated, I noticed that there are automatic additions to xml layout files; the @dimension/ references, like so:

When I run the app on my Nexus 7, the ads do not show, and I get an error that says the ad does not have enough space to show. After messing around with this, I found that if I remove the @dimension/ references, the error goes away, and the ad appears. I don't want to have to go back to all my layout files to remove the @dimension/ references, so I'm asking for help in identifying a way around this problem. There has to be a way to make the ad work without deleting the @dimension/ references; is there?

I tried to increase the heap (because I got some warning about increasing the heap size) by including the following line in the Manifest file:

The application uses a Progress Bar to show the progress of the download. Because the file length is quite big (1734741 bytes), I did logarithmic calculations. Also, I have several Log.v messages to see what's going on, I hope this does not hamper understanding of the code. Anyway, my question refers only to the incomplete downloading of the 3gp file.

I believe this covers all authentication cases for Facebook in my app. What I would like to know is how can I best determine if my user is a facebook user, in order to call this code in the first place? I can detect the SDK 2.0 access_key for previous users, but new users will not have a valid session for me to check. I would like to login a user with no interaction if they have SSO, or if the Session object has an access token for them already, but not run any of this if the user has opted for another login authentication mechanism. It seems the check of the Session object will pop the FB login if there is no access token (in the case of a user who does not use Facebook to login).

At the moment when I run my code, and I take a picture, only "photo.jpg" and "photo1.jpg" ever exist, and then they get written over if a third and fourth, etc. photo is taken.

EDIT: Half solved: I realized I was overwriting the file instead of creating a NEW file. Now I can take multiple pictures and they are saved as their own file. However, the naming of the files is now:

I am trying to implement handwritten character recognition in Android.

My code has 3 Listeners: onTouch, onDrag and onRemove (So I can get the list of coordinates based on Drag Event). Since for some characters we need to lift up our finger for a small time (eg. for caps K or H, but in my case it's not English characters), but as soon as I lift up my finger from screen it calls remove listener, i want to delay the drag listener for few milliseconds, so that I can get the complete set of coordinates before calling remove listener. Is it possible to delay it, or is there any simple way to achieve this task?

I have a fragment that contains three such ScoreViews. When I update the ScoreViews with a new name or score, everything works fine. However, if I update the rectangle behind them, only the first rectangle is redrawn.

The end result is something like this:

All three ScoreViews should have a gray bar behind the text.

To prevent the possibility of my fill color attribute causing this, I am statically setting the bar's color in the ScoreView.

I also discovered that if I rearrange the three ScoreViews, it is always the first ScoreView that updates properly.

My Android app needs to send an authorization code to my server so that the server can use that to acquire an access token for the user's Google Drive account. I have been trying to figure out how to acquire the authorization code and I found this in the Google API documentation (Using OAuth 2.0 for Installed Applications):

This sequence starts by redirecting a browser (system browser or embedded in the application as a web view) to a Google URL with a set of query parameters that indicate the type of Google API access the application requires. Like other scenarios, Google handles the user authentication and consent, but the result of the sequence is an authorization code. The authorization code is returned in the title bar of the browser or as a query string parameter (depends on the parameters sent in the request).

After receiving the authorization code, the application can exchange the code for an access token and a refresh token. The application presents its client_id and client_secret (obtained during application registration) and the authorization code during this exchange. Upon receipt of the refresh token, the application should store it for future use. The access token gives your application access to a Google API.

Now I am not sure how to get this authorization code in my Android app since the Android examples I have seen seem to get the access tokens directly. I am looking at the Android AccountManager class and it has a method getAuthToken but this seems to refer to the access token and not the authorization code.

So how does one acquire the authorization code that can be shared with a server? If it is possible I would greatly appreciate some example code. If this is not possible what are the possible workarounds?

And am still getting the error.

Looking at the mapping file, I think that I see what is causing the issue:

co.uk.MyApp.classes.Report_Holder -> co.uk.MyApp.classes.Report_Holder:

co.uk.MyApp.DataActivity -> co.uk.MyApp.DataActivity:
java.util.ArrayList arrDataItems -> a
co.uk.MyApp.classes.Report_Holder SRH -> b

It looks like Proguard is keeping the reference to co.uk.MyApp.classes.Report_Holder, but is obfuscating it when referencing it as a child of co.uk.MyApp.DataActivity.

I've tried different ways of keeping co.uk.MyApp.DataActivity, trying to get it to stop obfuscating co.uk.MyApp.classes.Report_Holder, but can't get the syntax correct. Any suggestions?

I have an application with TabActivity in which I am displaying a dialog each time I get a callback from my engine (NDK C code). Whenever my application is in resume state, the dialog displays.

Upon receiving the callback from the engine, I start the NetworkDownDialog activity, but this causes the dialog to stay for a second and then disappear. The same thing happens if I use Dialog or AlertDialog. Most strangely, the disappearance seems random (doesn't always happen).

This is an S3 device. What's going on?

I created a test wifi hotspot app. The app essentially enables and disables wifi hotspot functionality for the android platform(tested from 2.3 to 4.1).

I've noticed two issues with the app that I'm hoping to get some help with.

1)I'm unable to stop the wifi hotspot if the hotspot has been enabled for more than 30 minutes(average timing). I'm able to stop the hotspot just fine if it hasn't been started for very long. I use the following code to stop:

I'm able to start the wifi hotspot just fine with no issues at any given time. All research pointed me to the above code that I'm already using for disabling the hotspot.

Have any of you guys seen these issues before? It's really hard to test the issues considering the amount of time it takes for the issues to occur.

Long story short, out of all the ad networks I use via MoPub, AdMob seems to be the only one that doesn't display an advert, claiming it doesn't have enough space. In MoPub I have a phone ad unit and a tablet ad unit. Here's the specific log:

The ad gets loaded but not displayed because apparently it needs more space. I only want to display banner ads. I'm testing on a Nexus 7.

The other networks I use are LeadBolt and Millennial. They display banner ads just fine in the same space.
